Houston Early Music, Houston Chamber Choir, and Moores School of Music, University of Houston join in presenting Monteverdi’s sacred masterpiece Vespers of 1610 in two performances on Thursday, November 13 and Saturday, November 15 at 8:00 p.m. in Moores Opera House, University of Houston. Houston Chamber Choir, Robert Simpson, Artistic Director and Ars Lyrica Houston under the direction of Dr. Matthew Dirst will be joined by the period instrument ensemble, The Whole Noyse. Soloists are:
Prior to the November 15th performance at 7:00 in the Moores School of Music, renowned Monteverdi scholar, Dr. Jeffrey Kurtzman will present a lecture entitled "Honoring the Virgin, the Pope and Advertising Himself: Claudio Monteverdi’s Vespro della Beata Vergine of 1610."
